چکیده

We investigated ion emission dynamics of laser-produced plasma from several elements, comprised of metals and non-metals (C, Al, Si, Cu, Mo, Ta, W), under vacuum conditions using a Faraday cup. The estimated ion flux for various targets studied showed a decreasing tendency with increasing atomic mass. For metals, the ion flux is found to be a function of sublimation energy. A comparison of temporal ion profiles of various materials showed only high-Z elements exhibited multiple structures in the ion time of flight profile indicated by the observation of higher peak kinetic energies, which were absent for low-Z element targets. The slower ions were seen regardless of the atomic number of target material propagated with a kinetic energy of 1–5 keV, while the fast ions observed in high-Z materials possessed significantly higher energies. A systematic study of plasma properties employing fast photography, time, and space resolved optical emission spectroscopy, and electron analysis showed that there existed different mechanisms for generating ions in laser ablation plumes. The origin of high kinetic energy ions is related to prompt electron emission from high-Z targets. VC 2013 AIP Publishing LLC. [http://dx.doi.org/10.1063/1.4816710]

Effects of cold atmospheric plasma on viability of breast (MDA-MB-231) and cervical (Hela) cancer cells

Introduction: There are many reports published about the use of cold atmospheric plasma in cancer treatment recently. In this way, the selective effects of cold plasma on the breast (MDA-MB-231) and cervical (Hela) cancer cells were studied as a new cancer treatment method. Materials and Methods: In this study, cold atmospheric pressure plasma was generated using a plasma jet reactor and also o...

اثر کانال یونی بر خودکانونی شدن پالس لیزری گاؤسی در پلاسماهای کم چگال

We have considered the self-focusing of a Gaussian laser pulse in unmagnetized plasma. High-intensity electromagnetic fields cause the variation of electron density in plasma. These changes in the special conditions cause the acceleration of electrons to the higher energy and velocities. Thus the equation of plasma density evolution was obtained considering the electrons ponderomotive force. T...

Plasma Wave Acceleration of Electron in Bubble Regime in Presence of a Planar Wiggler

The plasma wave acceleration of electron in the bubble regime is investigated in a new configuration containing a planar wiggler. The space-charge field of the laser-created ion channel can focuse and stabilize the electron trajectory to guide it toward the acceleration region. The high-gradient plasma wave field can resonantly accelerate the trapped electron to higher energies in the presence ...

Time-resolved soft x-ray spectra from laser-produced Cu plasma.

The volumetric heating of a thin copper target has been studied with time resolved x-ray spectroscopy. The copper target was heated by a plasma produced using the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Compact Multipulse Terawatt (COMET) laser. A variable spaced grating spectrometer coupled to an x-ray streak camera measured soft x-ray emission (800-1550 eV) from the back of the copper target...

Hollow Ion Spectra In Warm Dense Laser-Produced Plasma: Observation And Modeling

X-Ray emission plasma spectra are investigated for 2 cases: i) plasma obtained under irradiation of Ar clusters by ultrashort laser pulses and ii) Mg-plasma heated by a short-wavelength long (nanosecond) laser pulse. It is demonstrated that under some experimental conditions very complicated spectra structures appear. Calculations in support of these measurements have been performed using a det...
